Guitar Lessons

Learning guitar should be enjoyable, inspiring, and focused on you. I offer mobile one-to-one guitar lessons in and around the Horsforth area, teaching students aged 14 and above. Whether you’re picking up the instrument for the first time or looking to take your playing to the next level, lessons are built entirely around your goals and interests.

Specialising in blues and rock (although adept at other genres), I help players develop strong fundamentals while exploring tone, feel, phrasing, and improvisation — the elements that make your playing truly expressive. Lessons can also cover topics such as rhythm playing, soloing, music theory, and gear setup, depending on what you want to achieve.

Every session is tailored to your pace and learning style, ensuring steady progress and genuine enjoyment. With over 10 years’ experience teaching a wide range of students, I bring patience, encouragement, and a practical approach that keeps lessons relaxed yet productive.

Whether you want to jam with confidence, play in a band, or simply get more out of your guitar, I’ll help you build the skills and understanding to make it happen.

  • Graham Addison

“Had a guitar on and off for many years before seeing Jonathan and could not play any song all the way through. After just 6 lessons I can play most of All right now, including the solo and the opening to Whiskey in the jar which is so fast I would never have thought it possible. Would highly recommend Jonathan to anyone who wants to learn to play the guitar properly”

  • Susan Lumb

  • Kieran Hogg

“I have always wanted to play the guitar and never got around to it.
I was bought some lessons with Jonathan as a gift. By having lessons, I get dedicated time to learn and as a result I see the improvements instantly.
Jonathan shares his knowledge of music with you as part of the process. The lessons are structured to the individual and their learning pace. He is keen to teach you the songs you love. This makes the whole experience enjoyable and fun, which keeps you motivated to learn more.”
